Who's Who

Idle Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School was founded in 1847 and housed in a building adjacent to Holy Trinity Parish Church. Our strong positive Christian ethos is exemplified by our close links with the Church, even though the school transferred to its present site in Boothroyd Drive in 1975, when the old building was demolished.

We are an expanding two-form entry school and our children are positive, confident and successful due to our celebratory ethos. Following completion of anextensive programme of building works, the school is housed in a modern building with well equipped facilities.

February 2014 saw our most recent and extremely successful OFSTED Inspection where the school was declared to be 'Outstanding' in all areas.  Please view our 'About Us' section for a fully detailed report.

The School has a reputation for its academic achievements and these have placed it amongst the top performing Primary Schools in the Country.

The curriculum we provide is exciting and involves many visits and visitors to school.  Staff and children alike enjoy our school because we make learning active and fun with many first hand experiences.

The school has very high standards for Music and Sports and the children enjoy taking part in musical activities and sports tournaments with other schools.
We are also an accredited centre for music examinations.

Our extensive grounds and P.E. resources enable us to actively encourage our children to be healthy and keen on a whole range of sports and after-school activities. Our high level of physical activity provision is recognised by Sport England.

We are distinguished by excellence and high academic standards, combined with a real emphasis on Sports, Creative Arts and Music and are extremely proud of our achievements.

Past pupils have excelled in their achievements and we are extremely proud to acknowledge our dedication and commitment to helping provide a quality start in their education and life-skills, and in producing young adults who have gone on to become: an airline pilot; accountants; an aspiring vet; musicians; sports coaches; numerous teachers and nurses - and even the first winner of the Great British Bake-off!!

We congratulate our pupils on their achievements and look forward to nurturing many more young people to come.
