Spring Term 2024

Amazing Events

We really enjoyed World Book Day, sharing stories with Year1, making wooden spoons based on book characters and dressing up in festival wear for Idlebury!! We also learnt how to become illustrators lead by Draw with Rob!

We had a theatre visit watching a performance of the classic story ‘The Secret Garden’.

“The actors were really good and part of it was quite funny!” Daphne

“The production felt a bit magical, and the sets made me feel like I was there!” Fouzan

We took part in a mammoth PE session with a world para-athlete called Sean Gaffney. He gave us an inspirational talk about his life, and we were sponsored to do some of his training exercises.

Easter Production

We took part in a production called ‘The tale of Three Little Trees’.

We learnt some amazing songs and some of us took parts on the

stage or as narrators. It was magical and made Easter feel really special.

Brilliant Books

We love reading and have looked at lots of exciting books this term!

“I’ve really enjoyed The House at the edge of Magic because I like the title and the way it is written!” Rayne

Varjak Paw was great because there are a lot of heroes and villains in it!” Daphne

“The main character in Beowulf was heroic and adventurous.” Ava

We love learning!

In PE we loved learning skills for invasion games, such as side passing in rugby, chest passing in handball and dribbling in basketball!

In science we learnt all about the different types of teeth and their functions and made them out of playdough!

We found out this was the first stage of the digestive system and did an experiment to simulate how our food passes through the digestive system!

In English, we used Beowulf to inspire us to write our own legend stories, looking at the power of 3 and powerful verbs to enhance our writing. Many of us were so inspired we went home and wrote some more exciting legends!
