Maths

Summer A

In our Maths lessons this term we have leant how to weigh objects with cubes and compare objects that were heavier and lighter. We learnt that the word "mass" means how much somwthing weighs. 

We learnt about capacity and volume. We have learnt how to identify whether a container is full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty or empty. We have looked at how much water a container can hold. 

We have been learning about counting in 2's, 5's and 10's. We then learnt how to make equal and unequal groups.

Summer B

In our Maths lessons this term we have learnt how to make equal and unequal groups. We learnt how to find halves and quarters of a shape and of an amount. 

After that, we learnt how to use the positional lanugage above, below, forwards, backwards, left and right. This helps us give directions in and out of the classroom.

Next, we started to learn about numbers up to 100 and what the vaule of a number really means.

English

Summer A

In English, we read the story "Mia makes a meadow" and made Idle's very own meadow using paper flowers.

We then learnt new suffixes to add to a root word. We used the suffixes -er, est and -ful to describe Mia's meadow. In our 'toolkit' phase we also learnt to use 'and' as a conjunction to join two short sentences or to add a clause to a sentence.

We produced our own description of the meadow we had made.

We are learning how to use plural suffixes and 'but' as a conjunction to help us in writing a comparison of two plants.

Summer B

In English we read the story "Handas Surprise" and we wrote our very own recipe of how to make a fruit kebab. 

We learnt how to use time connectives to start each of our instructions. We also learnt how to use commands to help with our recipe. We used words such as chop, cut and slice. 

We have linked our English with DT where we have been learning about fruit, how it feels, smells and tastes and how you can juice a fruit. We will finish our unit by following our recipes to make ma fruit kebab. 

We are now reading "Rumble in the jungle"...

Summer A

Science 

In Science, we are learnign about plants. We have planted some sunflower seeds and are going to watch them grow over the next four weeks. We need to give them water, keep them in a warm envornment and lots of sunlight.

I have enjoyed learning about how plants and trees grow. In the middle of the flower the seeds fall off to spread the wild plants." AG

Art

In Art we are learning about Samantha Stephenson who is famous sculpture artist. We have pracriced rolling, bending, cutting, folding and pressing paper to make sculptures. We are making some mini beats using newspaper and paint.

History

In History we are learning about 3 famous Queens. Their names are Queen Elizabeth 2nd, Queen Elizabeth 1st and Queen Victoria.

Summer B

Geography

In Geography we are learning about what a continent is, how many continents we have and where they are. We are focusing of the differences betwen Europe and Africa. We looked at the differences between Idle Moor and an African Suvanna. We then learnt the difference between villages, towns and cities.
