Maths

In our week 1 Maths lessons we leant how to weigh objects with cubes and compare objects that were heavier and lighter. We learnt that the word "Mass" means how much somwthing weighs. 

In our week 2 Maths lessons we have been learnt about Capacity and Volume. We have learnt how to identify whether a container is full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty or empty. We have looked at how much water a container can hold. 

In week 3 and 4 Maths lessons we have been learning about counting in 2's, 5's and 10's. Before we learnt how to make equal and unequal groups.

English

In English, we read the story "Mia makes and meadow" and made Idle's very own meadow using colourful card and flower shapes.

In week 2, we learnt how to add a suffix to a root word. We used the suffixes -er, est and -ful to describe Mia's meadow.

Wider Curriculum 

Science 

In Science, we are learnign about plants. We have planted some sunflower seeds and are going to watch them grow over the next four weeks. We need to give them water, keep them in a warm envornment and lots of sunlight. 

Pupil Voice:

I have enjoyed learning about how plants and trees grow. In the middle of the flower the seeds fall off to spread the wild plants." AG

Art

In Art we are learning about Samantha Stephenson who is famous sculpture artist. We have pracriced rolling, bending, cutting, folding and pressing paper to make sculptures. We are making some mini beats using newspaper and paint.

History

In History we are learning about 3 famous Queens. Their names are Queen Elizabeth 2nd, Queen Elizabeth 1st and Queen Victoria. 

"Queen Victoria married Prince Albert." PH

"Queen Elizabeth 1st had a sweet tooth which meant her teeth fell out and she had to have wooden teeth." JR
