Spring 1
Visioning Week
Year 4 kicked off half term with a visioning week, during this week we fully embraced our new vision.
Providing everyone with opportunities to thrive through faith, learning and shared goals; growing together. We foster bravery in facing challenges, celebrate teamwork and nurture a spirit of helping others.
We explored the Parable of the Mustard Seed in more detail linking it to our school day to day life and the choices we make. We made links between our vision and the classic story of The Little Red Hen. We used our creative art skills to produce a unique art piece that represents our vision for in our homes. To finish off the week, we had the pleasure of inviting all our families in to teach them about our vision and to showcase our art work. Year 4 worked hard to perform a drama piece representing small seeds growing into big love. We were blown away by the attendance of families, it really was such a special day!

English
This half term we have been using the text ‘Escape from Pompeii’ as our driver which has linked really nicely to our Geography work about volcanoes and earthquakes. We have produced two different pieces of writing; a diary entry (where we were one of the characters from the story trying to escape the eruption) and a persuasive letter (using our Geography knowledge, to persuade someone to move away theirs homes situated near an active volcano). During our immersion phases, we have used lots of drama and presentation skills to support our learning. The children have really engaged with this and found it helpful in their writing.

Science
Our Science focus this half term has been exploring solids, liquids and gases. We have done lots of fact finding as well as having the opportunity to explore solids, liquids and gases that are a little more difficult to classify! Children really enjoyed experimenting!
