Year 2 Spring Term

Spring 1

Please find the curriculum offer to the whole of Year 2.

We loved welcoming the children back after the Christmas holidays, in our first week we wrote about what we did in our holidays and launched our new school vision.

School Vision

Our new vision is providing everyone with opportunities to thrive through faith, learning and shared goals; growing together. We foster bravery in facing challenges, celebrate teamwork and nurture a spirit of helping others.

Through the week we read the parable of the mustard seed and acted it out. We read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle and wrote a reflection about what it teaches us. On Friday, we created an art piece on a fantasy plant that we got to frame and take home to remind us that we are part of Idle CE.

On Friday afternoon, we got to show parents, carers and governors what worked we had done around our new vision. We presented our work and in 2G sang one of our songs. We were very proud of the work we had achieved.

Computing

In our Online Safety this half term we looked at Online Relationships and how we might communicate to, how and why. We discussed who we talk to if we have a problem online. The children worked in pairs to think about how and why they might talk to someone. These are some examples:

Maths

In Maths, we have started our multiplication and division unit. In our first week, we looked at equal groups and shared the raisins. We had to answer the following questions: Are the groups equal/not equal? How do you know? How many groups? How many are in each group?

Road Safety

Year 1 and Year 2 had a fantastic time in their Road Safety workshop this morning! They learned how to stay safe near roads by remembering to stop, look, listen and think. The children loved dressing up and acting out the different roles involved in crossing the road safely – learning through fun and role play!
