Autumn 1
Welcome back everyone!
We have had a brilliant first week back at school, the children have done a great job getting back into routines. We have been exploring how we can show we are ready, respectful and safe and have had some lovely feedback from teachers around school! We even earnt our first class bead.
Writing
We have started a really interesting new learning journey that has involved using our imaginations to become adventurers. Children have really enjoyed the outdoor learning that came with this.
Worship
As a class we have designed a class rock which represents us all as a class. Children voted on designs and Jakes won. Well done Jake. Our stone will be taken to worship and placed with others across school to create a Cairn. This is a lovely way to demonstrate us coming together as a school family.
Science
In Science the children have been learning how to classify animals using a classification question key. To begin with they found it a little tricky but persevered and created some great classification keys using their knowledge on the tables!
Cornets
This year has been particualrly exciting in music. Year 4 have been learning how to play cornets! This children have taken to it really well and are already sounding brilliant!
Great Athlete Event
A top GB athlete will visited our school and worked with each class to complete a fun fitness challenge. They then delivered an inspiring assembly to the whole school with a talk, demo and Q&A.
Yellow Day - Mental Health Awareness
Today all the children came dressed in yellow to raise awareness of mental health. Throughout the day we took part in activities to look at mental health. We learnt about what we could do to support other a friend who was struggling. We also looked at ways we could support our own mental health. We completed activities such compliment giving, tai chi, visualisation and meditation.
We also had lots of fun dancing at play time and doing the conga round the classroom – a little laughter always brings our spirits up in 4M!
Our Vision
Today has been the launch of our new vision at Idle CE Primary school. Our vision is underpinned by the parable of the mustard seed. The children learnt all about this parable that highlights the significance one tiny seed can have. We explored the deeper meaning of this story and planted our own mustard seeds to remind us of our learning.
