Welcome to Idle Primary School! We are delighted that you have chosen our school and we look forward to welcoming you and your child as they begin their school journey with us this September.

Our Reception Team are currently arranging visits to children in their nursery settings. These visits help us get to know your child and support a smooth and positive transition into school.  We can't wait to meet everyone over the coming weeks!

You will shortly receive a Transition Pack confirming your child's place at Idle Primary School and providing you with a selection of key documents. This pack also includes our Admissions Booklet which we ask you to read, complete and return to help us prepare for your child's start in Reception. 

Within the pack, you should also receive a list of key transition dates.  These are as follows:

Transition Sessions: Wednesday 1st July
Children will be allocated a transition session, details of which are provided as part of the transition pack.  These small group sessions will give children the opportunity to meet the Reception team and other key members of our school community.  During the session, children will spend time in the Reception classrooms, exploring the environment and becoming familiar with staff.  We invite parents to stay and have a coffee, biscuit and a chat in the school hall.  If you are unsure of the timing for your child's allocated session or cannot attend, please contact the school office.  

Transition Welcome Meeting:  Wednesday 8th July
We will be hosting a welcome meeting for our new parents and families.  The Reception team will discuss the school day, provide an overview of the Reception curriculum, talk through daily routines and ways you can support your child as they begin their school journey. The team will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have and help ensure a smooth transition into school.

Wednesday 2nd September:  Term Begins - Reception first session 
We invite each class for a short session.  One class will be allocated a morning session, the other an afternoon session.  Please note you will receive details of your child's class and which session to attend following the transition sessions.  

Thursday 3rd September:  Half a day with lunch
Children from both classes will spend the morning in school and enjoy lunch in the hall.  Parents should collect at 12:45pm. 

Friday 4th September:  Full Day
Children will spend the full day in school, starting at 9am and finishing at 3:30pm.  This will continue for the rest of the year. 

We are very much looking forward to meeting all of our new Reception children and supporting them as they take this exciting next step!
